An enterprise analytics platform built in SAP Analytics Cloud carried the group's financial reporting, covering IFRS, profit and loss, risk adjustment and related reports. The redesign reorganised the suite around how people actually get to a figure: one navigation model, consistent filters, and charts that open at the level users work at.
The platform handled the group’s financial reporting, including IFRS, the income statement, risk adjustments, and related reports, and had been launched in 2024. After a few months of use, end users identified several critical issues: navigation settings were not retained from one report to the next, filters changed position each time, layouts were too cluttered, and visual styles were inconsistent. I worked on the redesign on my own, supported by an SAP developer.
I ran one-to-one sessions with around ten people, each responsible for a different section of the same report. The priorities that came out were consistent across all ten: simplify navigation, make the visual language consistent, reduce the number of steps needed to reach a figure, and clean up filters that were no longer useful.

Based on the information gathered, I focused on a single navigation model for all reports, a clearer hierarchy, less nested data, and the removal of redundant filter criteria. After that, I focused on defining the UI and design guidelines to be shared with the development team, taking into account the available SAC features.

Filters, navigation and chart defaults were the three things every session came back to.
